I'm Brazilian, I've always loved music and since I was little I buy and I listen to rock. During the 70's I met a magazine called Pop, which I christened German Pop, since it was of Germanic origin, I did not understand what was written in the great majority, but it was there that I met the groups that I publish here on the blog today. Rock made in Germany is one of my favorites, but my taste is very eclectic.

Manderley - Fliegt, Gedanken, fliegt 1976 (Germany, Krautrock, Folk Rock)

Pyramid - Dawn Defender 1976 (Germany, Krautrock, Space Rock)
Pra quem curte Cosmic Jokers e A.R & the Machines.

Uludag - Mau Mau 1988 (Germany, Krautrock)
The original Uludag was formed in Berlin circa 1980, as an improvising band playing "anarchistisch-experimentelle-rock-musik", with one foot in the new-wave and the other in the arts. By 1983 they'd gone through a lot of changes, and settled down as the trio of Werner Cee, Peter Hollinger and Lothar Reitz, with a new musical focus, blending art-rock and jazz elements with ethnic textures. In 1985 this trio recorded their first major work "7 Für Nichts", however only an extract ever made it onto record. In parallel to all this, the duo of Sabine Schäfer and Helmut Bieler-Wendt had been working as Panta Rhei, scoring theatre and ballet works. After both bands became involved in the same project, Uludag was reborn as a quartet of Cee, Hollinger, Schäfer and Bieler-Wendt.
Uludag's album MAU MAU saw the creation of an original fusion of Oriental musics, Embryo and Missus Beastly type jazz-fusion, with diversions to Henry Cow (also Fred Frith and Massacre) type realms, in an album spanned by a single thematic suite. Peter's rhythmic structures had a kind of punk-jazz energy to them, embellished with lots of complexities, and in cohesion with Sabine's keyboards they conjured up a Chinese cum Gamelan hybrid, given even more oriental flavour by Helmut's violin work. A fascinating and complex suite from start to end, MAU MAU is one of those unique unclassifiable albums born out of the Krautrock scene. It's a great shame that they never made a sequel.
Peter Hollinger is also known as a percussion soloist, and has worked with Alfred Harth in Gestalt Et Jive, with Guru Guru's Mani Neumeier, and many other projects. Sabine Schäfer now seems to work solely in electronic music with works premiered at the German Society for Psychology of Music at Karlsruhe.

Getriebe - Syncron 1975 EP (Germany, Krautrock, Prog Rock, Hard Rock)
Here we have a 17-minute EP, enough time for one side of a full LP. Getriebe was led by Detlev Schmidtchen, Eloy's future keyboardist starting on the Dawn album and ending with Silent Cries and Mighty Echoes (and then left to form the rather dull Ego on the Rocks). Ironically, Getriebe will remind the listeners Inside or Floating (and my favorite period of Eloy) more than the sophisticated Dawn. In fact, Getriebe sounds like many of the major German bands of 1971.
Detlev Schmidtchen formed this group in 1971 in Hanover, and in 1975 they won a competition of local bands called "Pop 75". The award went to a local recording studio, where they recorded "Syncron." Apparently they also won the dinner chance (?!) With Eloy, who were the invited headliners in this competition / festival. Eloy stole Schmidtchen which caused the group to break.

Drums – Rob Perotti
Guitar – Detlev Schmidtchen (future Eloy keyboard)

German band FRAMES was formed in 2007, consisting of Jonas Meyer (guitars), Manuel Schoenfeld (keyboards), Greger Röhring (bass) and Kiryll Kulakowski (drums). Their aim is to create extraordinary music, constructing unique musical landscapes inspired by mosaic patterns.
So far this has lead to the EP "CXXIV" issued in 2009, with a subsequent record deal with SPV sublabel Steamhammer following in its wake. Around the time that EP was recorded, Röhring decided to leave the band, and was replaced by Julian Hoffman.

Black Wednesday - Black Wednesday 1979 (Germany, Krautrock, Progressive Rock, Hard Rock)
An entirely unknown Teutonic group, which nowhere else on the Web is any more information. Their only self-titled album was first released in 1978 in a bootlegging way, but only the following year it was printed on vinyl, but also privately. As for the content of the release, the opinions are rather contradictory: from "chic guitar progression" and "masterpiece of the early prog" to "nothing remarkable" ... But judging by itself is a very individual matter!
