Casual music for the wandering mind...

After successfully self-releasing their debut record in 2014, Casual Strangers headed into a new direction, composing live instrumental sound panoramas and minimal ambient experiments for the wandering mind. The new album, Pink Panther, showcases the use of synthesized textures to create back-to-nature moods where vintage electronics are counterbalanced by lap steel and acoustic guitar. The album moves from full-on psychedelic instrumental rock to relaxed experimental ambient minimalism.  Pink Panther will be released on a run of pink cassettes. The music video for the lead track, Holocene Dream, was produced by SlackElectric ArtHouse and videoing.

An other ultra rare and long time lost 70's kosmische-kraut-psychedelica project published on the obscure Pyramid label for 50 copies, recently reissued on PsiFi. Weird trippy organ experimentations / improvisations with the add of acoustic, concrete noises, guitar manipulations. In the vein of Sand, Pyramid, Temple and Early Tangerine Dream but with colder ambiences and with a conceptual approach. Extremely experimental release.

An obscure Berlin supergroup featuring ex-Agitation Free and Lied Des Teufels members, though playing a rather uncharacteristic music for a German band, notably influenced by American West Coast bands like the Grateful Dead and Quicksilver Messenger Service, with multiple guitars and a slight jazzy bent. A really nice album that's in a world of its own.

Jurgen Karg (Germany-Kraut) 1977.Elektronische Mythen

A surprising diversion from the former Wolfgang Dauner bassist, that's not jazz in any sense of the word! What Jürgen came up with on ELEKTRONISCHE MYTHEN had more in common with early Klaus Schulze, Tangerine Dream's ZEIT, or more atmospheric electronic Karlheinz Stockhausen, typically Teutonic Kosmische electronic. Performed on four EMS synthesizers and other (unnamed) devices, the range of tonalities is quite remarkable. It's a fascinating record, atmospheric yet very dark and mysterious, both marginally melodic and purely amelodic, and well worth checking out.
